The data are summaries of CTD casts containing processed profile data on temperature, salinity, depth, fluorescence and iradiance. Purpose(1.2.2): Data were collected as part of integrative studies to understand the oceanographic processes in Glacier Bay. The project was designed for multiple uses including evaluating the effects of commercial fishing, relationships between oceanographic conditions and marine life including endangered humpback whales, physical fjord estuarine processes, oil spill modeling and other research and management purposes. Data Quality Information Attribute Accuracy: Attribute Accuracy Report(2.1.1): Positional accuracy is 100 meters CEP with an average error of 20 meters, prior to 7/01/95 after which Y-encrypted code GPS resulted in a CEP of less than 15 meters. CTD #2 was subject to data spiking due to the lack of a water pump on the unit. CTD drops speeds varied between 1.5 and .5 meters a second resulting in a small difference in the number of measurements averaged in pressure bins. Completeness Report(2.3): Project ongoing. Data up to 7/1/95 has been entered. Processing of Fluorescence and Iradiance for all years is in progress. Lineage Process Step: Process Description(2.5.2.1): Data from CTD casts are processed first using Seasoft software Versions 4.203 for CTD #1 which contains a additional fluorescence and irradiance meter and Version 4.032 for CTD #2. Data are Filtered (conductivity & pressure), Aligned relative to pressure, Averaged into pressure bins and then salinity, depth, density, iradiance and fluorescence were derived. After Seasoft processing the data was processed for this data file as described for each attribute.
