Nielsen Fish Molecular and Conservation Genetics Laboratory conducts primary research on evolutionary genetics in freshwater and anadromous fish populations of central and southern California and relic populations throughout the world. Founded in 1991 by Jennifer L. Nielsen, PhD. under the USDA Forest Service, the lab has since received upwards of $2 million in grants for numerous projects and employs student and research associates and technologists interested in fish genetics research.
