International Association
for Bear Research and Management –ProCite Database Files
The
International Association for Bear Research and Management
(IBA) is a non-profit volunteer organization open to professional
biologists, wildlife managers and others dedicated to the
conservation of all species of bears. The organization consists
of several hundred members from over 20 countries. It supports
the scientific management of bears through research and distribution
of information.
The
IBA sponsors international conferences on all aspects of bear
biology, ecology, and management approximately 2 out of every
3 years. These conferences alternate between venues in the Americas
and in Eurasia. Papers accepted for presentation at each conference
are considered for publication as peer-reviewed scientific
papers in Ursus.
This
annual journal is also open to non-conference submissions of
high scientific merit (see Ursus). You can
log onto the IBA’s main web page for additional information
and important links to bear research and management: http://www.bearbiology.com/
Jeff
Keay, USGS – Biological Resources Division, U.S.A. and Daryl
Wig, Alberta Fish and Wildlife, Canada created a ProCite (http://www.procite.com/)
database of IBA Proceedings 1-9. Additionally, I have
created my own ProCite files for conferences IBA Conferences
10 and 11. IBA
Proceedings for the 11th Conference have not yet
been published and my file is based on the abstracts
provided at the conference in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Therefore, some of the entries listed may not appear
in the 11th volume of Ursus, but at least you will
have those references should you wish to further pursue a particular
research area. Additionally,
I have created a ProCite file of the 1989 Yellowknife, NWT proceedings
entitled “Bear-People Conflicts.”
For those interested in bear-human conflict, this was
an important conference and you will want these references for
your use. Together
these ProCite databases will put at your fingertips over 600
hundred of important research papers.
These files are not without errors, however, and are
a work in progress so you may wish to check the date posted
for when the file was last edited.
Note that in the 10th and 11th
proceedings keywords have been added.
1st through 9th IBA
PROCEEDINGS (383 references)
10th IBA PROCEEDINGS (77 references)
11th IBA PROCEEDINGS (108 references)
