www.nal.usda.gov/awic Animal Welfare Information Center (AWIC): Mandated under the Animal Welfare Act, this organization is a primary source for information related to compliance with the Animal Welfare Act, documentation, alternatives to animal research, etc.. Don't look for much help on free-ranging wildlife, though.
www.nal.usda.gov/awic/legislat/awicregs.htm Link to a source for the Animal Welfare Act and Regulations. This source may give you better-formatted documents than those I posted. Also, they include more details and good documentation of the regulations.
www.aphis.usda.gov/reac Link to the USDA's Animal Plant Health Inspection Service. This is the organization that does the facility inspections, collects your annual animal usage report, and otherwise administer the Animal Welfare Act. Interestingly, they offer pdf files on "Elephant TB Control" and "Guidelines for Elephant Necropsy Protocol".
